Capitalizing on the recent trend of cicada-inspired food recipes, Jack Daniels has released a small batch of cicada-infused whiskey.
Derived from the abundant Brood X, this savory, crunchy libation is currently only available in select markets as a trial run to gauge demand. If successful, the bourbon maker plans on releasing a 13-year and 17-year blend in 2024.
"The next crop of cicadas is aging underground, as we speak," said Svend Jansen, spokesman for Jack Daniel's. "Supply will not be a problem, right now we're testing demand."
